I started this scene from one of my fast sketches:

I used a classic poly-modeling technique in Maya to obtain the base mesh for the woman, then I added details in Zbrush 2 and exported as a displacement map. For the jewelry I used a motion path modeling technique for the chains and other details. Rendered in passes with Mental Ray, then composited in Photoshop CS. Smoke and volumetric light was painted in Photoshop.
Sometimes I desire to remake this scene with Modo, but I know I will model again half of the entire scene [if not the entire scene], so everytime I give up.
